Loving an ADHDer Workshop

Loving an ADHDer: Partner or Parent?

You did not set out to be the parent in your relationship. It happened slowly.

First you reminded. Then you checked. Then you took over. Now you find that somehow manage the diary, the household chores, the deadlines and the mood, and you are not happy. Your partner feels nagged, managed and ashamed. Neither of you chose this.

This workshop looks at how the partner and parent roles creep in. It also shows you how to step back out.

You are equally important. Your needs, your time and your energy count as much as theirs. Being the ‘capable’ one does not mean you get less.

Boundaries. A boundary is not a punishment or an ultimatum. It is a clear statement of what you will and will not do. You will learn how to set one that is firm, kind and possible to keep.

Learned helplessness. Years of failing, being corrected and being rescued can teach anyone to stop trying. When you take over, you can deepen the very pattern that exhausts you. You can also start to feel helpless yourself. You will see how this loop works and how to break it without blame.

The approach is trauma-informed and free of shame. You are not the problem. Your partner is not the problem. The pattern is the problem.

This workshop is also the first step into the six-week programme for partners of ADHDers. Come for one session. Stay for the full support if it fits.
